Cloud English - UI/UX Design

Cloud English is an online content company that produces premium courses and free content for English language learners. Cloud English has over 2 million views to date. I've set out to create a beautiful site that ensures perfect flow from free content to paid content, which is vital for most premium content business models. Studying viewer behavior made it clear that higher conversion rates could be achieved by single-clicks from single free videos to related premium courses (like Lynda.com), as opposed to casually browsing courses. There must be no barrier to entry from free to premium.

Udemy online learning platform: here are 6 courses listed and over 6,000 paying students. The average of the review score is 4.7/5.0.

Conclusion: The teacher has strong teaching abilities and almost universal appeal in the field.

Youtube: There are 17,233 followers on Cloud English.

Goals:

Establish a clean modern content brand aesthetic that sets CE apart from traditional ‘lame’ language learning content.

Direct followers through ‘the funnel’ and toward the call to action (paid courses) with the highest possible conversion rate. That essentially means removing obstacles so that the teacher's gravitation appeal can do its thing.

Solutions:

The status quo for the industry is either kiddy or hyper-professional. With minimal yet playful shapes and only two colors, the balance is struck between hip and professional.

Free videos are prominent on the homepage in order to widen the funnel; copy is kept to a minimum. Each free video is a single click from related premium content, also prominent. The effect is a funnel with enhanced gravity due in large part to the flow’s utter lack of visual distraction.
